KUCHING, Aug 28: The Kampung Tabuan Cemerlang fire victims who were left homeless by yesterday’s event, are currently taking shelter at Kampung Tabuan Lot Multipurpose Hall.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng when visiting the fire victims today, said they will remain at the hall temporarily as efforts are being made to assess the full extent of damage and coordinate further assistance.

According to a press release, Wee had expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the victims and commended the swift response of the firefighters who worked tirelessly to battle the blaze and prevent further destruction.

He also noted that the Love Book Association and Yayasan 38 have extended their support by donating essential food items, daily necessities, and RM500 to each of the affected families.

“The generosity displayed by the Love Book Association and Yayasan 38 is truly commendable. Their contributions are making a significant difference in the lives of the fire victims, and we are grateful for their support,” he said.

On Aug 27, a fire destroyed a six-door rental house at Kampung Tabuan Cemerlang, Jalan Setia Raja around 9am. — DayakDaily
