KUCHING, Aug 24: Infections of 53 Covid-19 cases among residents Kampung Plaman Bantang of Jalan Mentung-Sangai, Serian have sparked a new community cluster dubbed as Plaman Bantang Cluster.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said a total of 95 individuals have been screened.
“Of the total, 53 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case while 42 were negative,” the Committee said.
All positive cases from the cluster were referred and admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Serian Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) as well as Serian and Samarahan Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) for isolation and further treatment.
With the addition of the Plaman Bantang Cluster, there are 15 active clusters in Serian at present.
The 53 case new cases in Kpg Plaman Bantang in Serian has brought total cumulative number of cases in the district to 4,901 since March 2020. — DayakDaily
