KUCHING, Dec 3: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will be implementing the Malaysian Family Maximum Price Scheme (SHMKM) to control the prices of chicken, chicken eggs and vegetables.
Its minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the scheme will take effect from Dec 7 to 31.
The food items include live chickens, standard chickens and super chickens that are slaughtered and cleaned, Grade A, B, and C chicken eggs, long beans, red chillies, tomatoes, green mustard, imported round cabbages and cucumbers.
“It is hoped that this measure will run smoothly and help to stabilise the price of goods in the market.
“Price announcements for items involved at each end of the business chain will be made in the near future,” said Nanta in a statement today.
SHMKM, he added, is a measure taken by the government to stabilise the price of essential goods while ensuring availability of supply in the market. — DayakDaily
