KUCHING, Sept 4: Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has disposed of RM92,526.20 worth of confiscated items from 26 cases in 2020 today.
According to the press statement from Sarawak KPDNHEP, the confiscated items being disposed of consisted of handbags, backpacks, wallets, and others are items that had violated Trade Description Act 2011, Copyright Act 1987, Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, and also Consumer Protection Act 1999.
This is the second batch of the disposal order in year 2020 which was ordered from the courts.
Sarawak KPDNHEP had disposed of a total of RM496,135 of items from the beginning of 2020 until August 2020.
In 2019, KPDNHEP had disposed a total of RM1,226,131.12 of confiscated items in 71 cases while disposing of RM205,757.94 worth of items in 39 cases in the year 2018.
Meanwhile, Sarawak KPDNHEP had checked a total of 48,229 premises in and outside of the city and had confiscated RM3,949,244.47 worth of items in 714 cases and a total of RM257,300 worth of compound were being issued.
Sarawak KPDNHEP will continue in combating the activities which had violated the laws regulated by them and also to protect the rights of the consumers during the Covid-19 Pandemic. — DayakDaily
