KUCHING, Feb 29: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has announced that the general repairs and upgrading work on the toilet and changing rooms at Kota Sentosa Town Square, amounting to RM500,000, is now 90 per cent completed and two months ahead of schedule.

In a statement today, Yap stated that the project falls under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and was allocated to his constituency following requests from local business communities and residents in the area.

“After a site visit with Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) officers and their contractors today, it was revealed that the Kota Sentosa Town Square was in unsatisfactory condition, lacking changing rooms and public toilets,” he further disclosed.

Yap commended MPP for their diligent supervision of the construction works to ensure adherence to schedule and quality standards.

Yap expressed his belief that the upgraded project would enhance the welcoming environment and showcase the uniqueness of the Kota Sentosa commercial area.

“This initiative aims to attract more local visitors and tourists, aligning with the Sarawak government’s policy to continually enhance infrastructure for the public’s benefit and economic growth,” he remarked.

Yap assured his commitment to identifying infrastructure improvements to foster growth, efficiency, and employment, prioritising social and economic factors using his annual RTP allocation.

“This entails establishing an accurate budget and involving all stakeholders in policy adoption, planning, and implementation for infrastructure enhancements in Kota Sentosa’s constituency. Robust infrastructure forms the foundation for thriving human communities,” he emphasised.
