KUCHING, March 19: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap’s N12 Kota Sentosa Service Centre will be organising a ‘Program Pertukaran Alamat Tempat Mengundi Dan Semakan Daftar Pemilih’ on March 23 from 9am to 4pm at the Dewan Perniagaan Batu Tujuh here.
According to a press release, the programme, which was organised in response to resident requests, aims to assist residents who are registered to vote in constituencies far from their place of residence within N12 Kota Sentosa and make it easier for them to fulfill their voting duties.
“Many residents in N12 Kota Sentosa complain about a host of issues in their place of residence, but when asked, many have replied that they are not voters in N12 Kota Sentosa.
“It is important and prudent for a citizen to vote in the constituency in which he or she resides because his or her vote determines the preferred candidate or party to serve them and represents his or her beliefs and views on a wide range of issues.
“An elected representative will be more receptive to issues raised by the voters in the constituency rather than from the complaints made from outside the constituency,” read the press release.
It went on to say that those residing within the boundaries of N12 Kota Sentosa but registered to vote in other state constituencies are therefore encouraged to take the opportunity to change their voting locality.
The press release also noted that officers from the Election Commission of Malaysia will be present at the programme to assist attendees with the process of changing their voting locality. — DayakDaily
