KUCHING, Aug 7: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has secured RM115,000 in funding from the Sarawak government’s Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) to upgrade earth drains to concrete drains at Lorong Stampin Tengah 5, as well as RM200,000 for a stretch of drains and car parks at Lorong 1, Stampin Resettlement Scheme in front of Surau Al-Mukhlis.
According to a press release, Yap was approached recently by residents of Jalan Stampin Tengah 5 and Kampung Stutong Melayu who asked for his assistance in upgrading the earth drains to concrete drains.
It stated that the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) was appointed as the implementing agency for the N12 Kota Sentosa RTP drainage upgrading projects for a total sum of RM315,000.
“This morning (Aug 7), the Letter of Award and site were officially handed over by officers from MBKS to Sekinah Enterprise, witnessed by YB Wilfred Yap for the drainage upgrading works at Lorong Stampin Tengah 5. The work is scheduled for four months and will be completed by Nov 26, 2023.
“Another Letter of Award and site handover from MBKS officers to Pelopor Bumi Enterprise was formally done this morning (Aug 7), witnessed by YB Wilfred Yap, for the drainage upgrading works and car parks in front of Surau Al-Mukhlis at Lorong 1, Stampin Resettlement Scheme. The works are scheduled for 17 weeks and will be completed on Nov 26th, 2023.”
During the simple handover ceremony, Yap thanked the officers from the MBKS engineering department for their efficiency in preparing the design plans, specifications, and bill of quantities for the upgrading works of both projects, ensuring that the benefits of the upgrading works are delivered as soon as possible to the affected residents, as per the press release.
“YB Wilfred Yap is aware of the numerous public complaints on poor infrastructure in certain areas of N12 Kota Sentosa that needs to be urgently resolved and is committed to securing more government funding to systematically address the poor infrastructure issues in his constituency.
“However, YB Wilfred Yap requests for the public’s patience as various government processes and requirements need to be complied with first before any RTP project can commence.” — DayakDaily
