KUCHING, Nov 7: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has announced that his requested Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding of RM200,000 for the construction of an open multipurpose hall for SK Sungai Stutong, BDC here has been approved by the Premier of Sarawak’s Office.

According to a press release issued today, the Public Works Department (JKR) has been designated as the project’s implementing agency and has been tasked with preparing the drawings and specifications for the scope of works, as well as the bill of quantities.

It went on to say that Yap will pursue approval from JKR and the State Education Department in order to expedite the commencement of the project.

“YB Wilfred Yap also present a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM3,000 to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) to assist them with organising more sporting events for their students.

“Sport activities are important because they will help to encourage a more active lifestyle for our children and also help in character formation. Sports helps in the formation of winning attitudes and to do so by fair means,” read the press release.

Based on the press release, Yap officiated the Annual Sports Day 2023 of SK Sungai Stutong, BDC on Nov 7 at the invitation of the PIBG.

Yap also commended the teachers and parents of SK Sungai Stutong, BDC for organising the annual sports day as it allows their students to ‘burn off the energy’ by engaging in physical activities. — DayakDaily
