KUCHING, May 2: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has presented the keys to two fully repaired homes that were previously categorised as dilapidated at the Stampin Resettlement Scheme here to their owners yesterday.
According to a statement released by Yap today, N12 Kota Sentosa financial assistance of RM15,000 under the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS) was used to repair the roofs and walls of a dilapidated house at Lorong 17, Stampin Resettlement Scheme.
Volunteers from the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Sarawak and the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) Kampung Stampin Baru carried out and completed the repairs through a joint community exercise.
In addition, another house in the Stampin Resettlement Scheme had its roof repaired, new toilets built, and a septic tank installed.
It was also completed through the joint efforts of volunteers of JKKK Taman BDC and Satria Jaya BDC.
During the official handover ceremony, Yap thanked all volunteers who had participated in the event and contributed their time and effort to assisting the less fortunate.
As per the statement, PPRMS is a financial assistance of up to RM15,000 provided by the Sarawak government to assist those living below the poverty line or in low-income groups by providing basic facilities and comfortable housing.
Meanwhile, Yap’s Pusat Khidmat N12 Kota Sentosa is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone experiencing problems in his constituency or those who come across issues of public interest but are unsure of how to handle them.
