Kota Sentosa rep commits to tackling long-standing issues in N12 Kota Sentosa

Yap (third left) hands over financial assistance to one of the victims of the recent Mile 7 fire.

KUCHING, Jan 17: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has expressed his commitment to addressing the outstanding problems in N12 Kota Sentosa, which has been represented by Democratic Action Party (DAP) for 15 years until 2021.

In a statement, Yap further pledged to solve problems in his constituency in a systematic and efficient manner, focusing on pressing needs and urgency and taking a ‘people over politics’ approach.

“I will also do my best to secure additional development funding from the Sarawak government in addition to my allocated annual RTP (Rural Transformation Programme) funds of RM5 million to improve and upgrade infrastructure in N12 Kota Sentosa,” he said.

He also urged Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, a former Kota Sentosa assemblyman, and his special assistant Michael Kong, to proactively secure additional funding from the federal unity government to address long-standing issues in Kota Sentosa.

“Instead of complaints and excuses, it would be appropriate and proper for Michael Kong as the special assistant to YB Chong Chieng Jen to inform the public on the projects that has been implemented through local councils using his annual RM2 million RTP federal unity government allocation and for the period of 22 months when YB Chong was serving as a deputy minister of the federal government,” Yap asserted.

During his visit to the site of the recent Mile 7 fire which destroyed six shophouses, Yap distributed RM9,000 in financial assistance to nine families affected by the fire.

The family of a child with special needs who perished in the fire was given financial assistance of RM2,000, while six other families were given financial assistance of RM1,000 each, and two families were given financial assistance of RM500 each.

“YB Wilfred Yap’s Pusat Khidmat N12 Kota Sentosa is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems in his constituency or who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it.

“Anyone requiring assistance can always call his service centre’s mobile number at 082-265513 or 011-31893319 or go direct to his service centre at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching to request for assistance,” read the statement. — DayakDaily
