KUCHING, Nov 23: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has appealed to the Sarawak government to allocate funds to resolve flash flood issues at Borneo Garden and Taman Happy Valley.
“In my constituency of Kota Sentosa, there are still flash flooding problems affecting residents. Two examples are at Borneo Garden, off Jalan Lapangan Terbang and Taman Happy Valley, off Jalan Tun Jugah,” he said.
Yap was debating on the Supply (2023) Bill, 2022 at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting at the DUN Complex here today.
Meanwhile, Yap also urged the Sarawak government to conduct a comprehensive traffic study along Jalan Stakan, Jalan Liu Shan Bang and Jalan Sungai Tapang where traffic has increased over the years.
He hoped that an allocation could be provided to upgrade the roads mentioned to facilitate the reduction of traffic congestion during peak hours.
In terms of housing, Yap requested that the Housing Ministry considers implementing one low cost housing scheme and one affordable housing scheme, both integrated with recreational facilities, in Kota Sentosa due to its location where there are still pockets of state land available.
Not forgetting tourism, he called on the Sarawak government through Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) to expedite the rehabilitation of Stabar quarry site and develop the areas surrounding the quarry into a recreational park to draw visitors and thereby increase business activities in Kota Sentosa. — DayakDaily
