KUCHING, March 15: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin allocated RM100,000 to repair the school hall of SK Major General Datu Ibrahim in Semenggo Camp.

In a statement today, Yap said the allocation was approved under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund after the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) requested assistance.

During a recent visit to the school with officers from the Public Works Department (JKR) as the appointed implementing agency, he requested JKR to gather inputs, including to expedite preparation of the scope of works and bill of quantities for the repairs to enable students and teachers to use the facility.

The roof ceiling of the school hall was leaking, and over 650 students were deprived of access to the school hall for over two years.

Yap (centre) is handing over the air conditioners to YDP Major Mohd Nizam Zakaria of Tabika Kemas 11RAMD Kem Semenggo.

Following that, Yap also visited the Tabika Kemas 11RAMD Kem Semenggo to monitor the installation of two units of air-conditioner costing RM3,000, which he contributed.

The Tabika Kemas at Kem Semenggo operates two sessions of classes (morning and afternoon classes) for over 65 children, and the air-conditioners were urgently required by the children attending the afternoon session.

On the same note, Yap also assured that he is committed to assisting all schools in his constituency by systematically using his RTP and MRP funding based on urgency and priority.

He said this is to ensure their equipment and facilities are satisfactory and to provide a good environment that is conducive to learning and academic excellence. — DayakDaily
