KUCHING, Aug 14: Kota Sentosa Health Clinic is set to gain 70 additional parking bays under two Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025 projects worth a combined RM300,000, providing much-needed relief for the busy health facility that serves a large number of residents daily.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap today handed over the projects, which are aimed at improving accessibility, convenience and traffic flow for patients, visitors and healthcare personnel, while strengthening supporting infrastructure at one of the key public healthcare facilities serving Kota Sentosa and surrounding communities.
The handover was carried out together with officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).
The two projects comprise the construction of a parking area at Kota Sentosa Health Clinic (Phase 2), costing RM250,000 and undertaken by Syarikat Sinar Nasco, and the construction of new parking area facing Jalan Besar, costing RM50,000 and implemented by Syarikat Pembinaan Kemuncak Emas.
Yap said the additional parking capacity would provide much-needed relief for the clinic, particularly by making access more convenient and reducing congestion around the facility.
“Healthcare facilities must not only provide quality medical services; they must also have the supporting infrastructure needed to serve the community effectively. These 70 additional parking bays will make access to the clinic more convenient, safer and more organised for patients, families and healthcare staff,” he said in a statement.
He stressed that the projects reflected the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s commitment to practical and people-centred development, with RTP allocations directed towards addressing genuine needs identified on the ground.
“This is what development should be about — identifying genuine needs, allocating resources and delivering projects that people can see and benefit from. Every ringgit invested must translate into better facilities and a better quality of life for our people,” he said.
During the programme, Yap also handed over two cheques of RM3,000 each, totalling RM6,000, in additional support for relevant community initiatives.
He expressed his appreciation to MPP, the contractors and all relevant agencies and stakeholders for their cooperation and efforts in ensuring the projects are implemented smoothly.
“We will continue working closely with MPP and the relevant agencies to identify and address infrastructure needs in Kota Sentosa. Our priority is simple — deliver, solve problems and make a real difference to our community,” he said.
Yap said development in Kota Sentosa was not merely about building infrastructure, but also about creating a better, more accessible and liveable community for residents. — DayakDaily
