Kota Samarahan Municipal Council waiting for face mask supply for distribution

Dato Peter Minos

KUCHING, April 24: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council will help to distribute the face masks from the state government to households within its jurisdiction.

Council chairman Datuk Peter Minos said that they are still waiting for the relevant authorities to deliver the face masks.

“We have inquired about the face mask supply, as it is our duty to assist the state government in the distribution,” he said in a press statement today.

With Kota Samarahan categorised as a Covid-19 red zone, Minos assured that the council will do its best to help enforce the movement control order (MCO) to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

“We have repeatedly urge folks here to fully adhere to the guidelines under the MCO because it is to keep them and others safe and healthy.

“As for those who are concerned about their health status, we advised them to take no chances and go to the Kota Samarahan civic centre for health screening,” he said.

He added that the council has carried out sanitisation operations in markets and public areas in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department.

On the extension of MCO for another two weeks until May 12, Minos agreed that it was the right decision to address the unprecedented crisis.

“They (government) have made a very tough and difficult decision but it has to be done for the safety of the nation.

“Taking steps in the right direction is important to improve the situation as one bad move will result in the situation go out of control and higher death rates,” he said. — DayakDaily
