KUCHING, July 25: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos expressed his support for the police for taking action against bistro owners in Kota Samarahan for playing loud music late at night despite being warned.

According to Minos’ statement, nearby residents have repeatedly lodged complaints with MPKS and the police, but the owners did not listen.

“The bistro owners are now facing the music, the legal kind. The police had no choice but to take action,” he said.

He added that the bistro owners would face jail time and a fine if found guilty.

“The police confiscated their equipment, and MPKS fully supports the police,” he said.

Minos went on to say that MPKS is fed up with any group that disrupts the peace, especially among residents.

He also stated that MPKS would not tolerate businesses operating without a legal permit, adding that the bistro did not have an entertainment permit, only a food and beverage permit from the council.

“Permit violators have no regard for the laws and rules, as well as the authorities and public enforcers.

“MPKS will always collaborate with the police to ensure that Kota Samarahan is a safe and enjoyable place,” Minos pointed out. — DayakDaily
