KUCHING, Feb 27: HAUS KCH, a creative hub located in Kuching South, will bring back Seni Kita this weekend at the Old Court House Kuching from 10am-6pm on March 2-3, featuring 55 vendors.
According to a press release, fresh from a comeback of four-themed weekends last year, this year will see Seni Kita on five weekends with this weekend’s one themed ‘Kongxi Raya’ to showcase the significance of various local cultures and festivities while also highlighting the unity fostered by art and community.
“Highlighting the unique variety of both Malay and Chinese cultures, HAUS KCH has come together with a series of cultural performances and demonstrations throughout the weekend, which include a Chinese traditional dance performance, a lemang-making demonstration, and a Kuih-Lapis demonstration,” the press release read.
Christy Yang, programme coordinator of Seni Kita Weekend, said, “We are excited to be back with a series of exciting weekends for the local creative community in Kuching. Kongxi Raya is our first themed festivity that encourages the fusion of different elements in forms of art, handmade items, food, beverages, and more.”
Teaming up with the Dirty Art Club, Seni Kita is collaborating to present Kongxi Raya Canvas, an inclusive art initiative providing materials for enjoyment and creativity to all participants.
M. Sahzy brings back the art of sculpture, showcasing his art installations this upcoming weekend at Old Court House Kuching. There will also be a Kongxi Raya Photo Booth where everyone is welcome to take pictures and post them on their social media platforms with the hashtag ‘KongxiRayaKita’.
“The Kamboh segment will take place on Sunday with Tuak Tasting before having a series of fun Drum Challenges led by the Sarawak Drum Community in collaboration with 3 Dinda.
“Our weekend segment will be emceed by none other than JayC Pangabilan. He will also be DJing ambient music throughout both days to enhance the background music for visitors,” said the press release.
