KUCHING, July 6: Michael Kong, a special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, is calling on Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap to explain further delays in opening the 6th and 7th Mile flyovers to road users.

Kong claimed that on a recent trip to 7th Mile, he noticed that none of the lanes at the 6th Mile flyover are open for use as promised.

“As recently as May 23, 2022, the Senior Works Minister (Dato Sri) Fadillah Yusof stated in the papers that one lane of the 7th Mile flyover will open before June and one lane of the 6th Mile flyover will open before July.

“We are now in the month of July 2022, but we have yet to see the opening of any lanes for the flyover at 6th Mile.

“From the looks of it, we may not even see the flyover being completed by July 2022,” he said.

In his statement, Kong said it has been over six months since Yap was elected as the assemblyman for Kota Sentosa, but claimed the latter has never come forward to speak on the people’s behalf regarding the 6th Mile and 7th Mile flyovers. — DayakDaily
