Dr Sim: Sarawak Day celebration in Sibu as “thank you” to voters

SIBU, July 6: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will attend the Sarawak Day celebration which will be held in Sibu on July 22.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president confirmed this when attending the appointment ceremony for the new executive committees of SUPP Bukit Assek and Dudong branches at Kingwood Hotel in Sibu last Sunday (July 3).

“This is to appreciate and as a sign of gratitude to the people of Sibu for voting for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 12th State Election (PRN12) and it shows the government’s commitment to the people.


“Most importantly in the next General Election (GE15), all Sarawak children are united,” he said.

Meanwhile, SUPP Bukit Assek chairman Datuk Chieng Buong Toon said winning the Sibu and Lanang Parliamentary seats in the coming GE15 is very important.

“It will bring more comprehensive development to Sibu and is the best opportunity to maintain our right to Sarawak autonomy through the next parliamentary elections.

“To achieve all this, the GPS government must be strong and it must be a coalition that has the full support of all the people,” he explained.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government II and Pelawan assemblyman Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew and SUPP Dudong chief Wong Ching Yong. — DayakDaily
