SHAH ALAM, April 29: The founder and executive chairman of KK Supermart and Superstore Sdn Bhd (KK Super Mart) Datuk Seri Dr Chai Chee Kan and his wife, Datin Seri Loh Siew Mui, will submit a representation to the Attorney General’s Office (ACG).

According to a news report by Bernama today, Chai and Loh are currently facing two charges for allegedly offending Muslims in an issue related to the sale of socks with the word ‘Allah’ on them.

Lawyer Datuk Rajpal Singh, representing Chai and Loh, informed the court that his party will file the representation after examining the documents obtained from the prosecution today.

“We request that a mention date be set because the defence will file a representation,” said Rajpal when the case was mentioned before the sessions court Judge Muhamad Anas Mahadzir.

Meanwhile, Deputy Public Prosecutor Khairul Azreem Mamat stated that the prosecution would provide the defense with case documents and requested a joint trial for the couple and the director of Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd.

Also present was lawyer Lau Yi Leong, representing the director of the distribution company Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd, Soh Chin Huat, alongside his wife, Goh Li Huay, and daughter, Soh Hui San, who were charged under the same penal code as Chai and Loh.

The court fixed June 10 for case management to find out the representation status.

Rajpal said to the press they would soon submit a representation but had not decided whether to withdraw the charge or propose an alternative. — DayakDaily
