King hopes Anwar is last PM to be sworn in before his reign ends

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

KUCHING, Feb 13: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah hopes Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be the last prime minister he has to swear before his reign ends.

His Majesty said it is engraved in the country’s history that he is the only King who has been given the duty to govern the country with four prime ministers and four different Cabinets.

“I hope that this tenth prime minister (Anwar) will be the last one for me (before my reign ends),” he said in his address at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Recounting various events, such as the political instability during a pandemic, including the first hung Parliament in the country’s history during his reign, he added that it is not something he will forget.
