KUCHING, Oct 27: A mother and son managed to escape from a burning house early this morning with the help of their kind neighbours.
According to the Head of Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Siburan PpgB Sulaiman Ahmat, Bomba received the report regarding a burning house at RPR Landeh, Fasa 1 of Mile 10, at 3.50 in the morning.
He said the fire was noticed by the victims’ neighbours who saw flames coming from the living room.
The kind neighbours instantly rendered help to the victims by breaking the doors and bedroom windows to allow the latter to escape.
“The house was 80 percent burned in the living room area and there are two victims – the son who sustains 18 percent burn at the back, face and hand and the mother suffers 13 percent burn, also on the body, hand and face areas.
“Both victims were sent to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment and it is understood that both are in stable condition,” he said.
Sulaiman said Bomba Siburan had conducted an overhaul work before monitoring the area to ensure that the fire was totally put out.
The cause of the fire and the amount of the damage is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
