Kilat Boy among 12 sports icons leading Sukma XXI Baton Relay at Kuching Waterfront

KUCHING, June 23: Kilat Boy, also known as Daeloniel McDelon Bong, was among the 12 Sarawak sports icons leading the Sukma XXI Baton Relay programme that took place at Kuching Waterfront earlier today.

According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the grand finale of the baton relay programme concluded its 12th round in the Kuching Division after crossing 11 other parts of the region since its commencement on April 27.

The participants of the baton relay programme were sent off by the Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and the Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development of Sarawak Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah at 7am for their 4.1km run.

The drizzling rain did not dampen the excitement of Kuchingites, who eagerly participated in the momentous event as the Kuching Waterfront had been crowded since 6am.

Approximately 1,000 Kuchingites from various walks of life cheered on during the grand finale of the relay programme.

Before the relay run began, an aerobics activity was conducted, with every attendee participating.

Other notable attendees include Sarawak’s Deputy Minister MYSED Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Sarawak State Deputy Secretary (Operations) and Chief Executive Officer of SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Secretariat Datu Hii Chang Kee, Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Welfare Development, Datu Felicia Tan and Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Morshidi Fredrick. — DayakDaily
