KUALA LUMPUR, Sep 1: Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) today announces the appointment of Khalil Jaffri Muhammad Muri as its new chief operating officer (COO) effective September 1, 2022.
In this new role, Khalil will oversee and steer PDB’s diverse business operations and support the execution of the company’s strategic business ventures as it continues to grow its non-fuel business.
Prior to his appointment as COO, Khalil served as PDB’s Head of Retail Business where he led numerous transformation and digitalisation initiatives to create new revenue streams and accelerate growth in the non-fuel segment.
His key achievements include the expansion of retail offerings at Kedai Mesra for enhanced customer experience and the incorporation of Mesra Retail & Café Sdn Bhd to further strengthen and diversify PDB’s retail business propositions.
Khalil also drove PDB’s efforts to create positive social impact through the Company’s ‘Love Local’ campaign that provides small local businesses a platform at Kedai Mesra to market their brands and products, thus supporting Malaysia’s post-pandemic economic recovery.
Under Khalil’s leadership, PBD enhanced its operational efficiency for dealers to deliver a more fulfilling customer experience with the expansion of its cloud-based Point-of-Sale system and deployment of the state-of-the-art Outdoor/Indoor Payment Terminal (OPT/IPT) system across its station network.
In addition, he successfully steered the team towards the launch of Malaysia’s first mobile refuelling service, ROVR, which offers a seamless refuelling experience for drivers at locations beyond PDB’s station network and easier access to fuel for rural communities at retail pump price.
Khalil, who was a Petronas scholar, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and Economics from Carnegie Mellon University, U.S., and has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
He has helmed several positions within the Petronas Group across petrochemicals, liquefied natural gas, crude oil and petroleum products, and has built expertise in corporate planning and development, operations, commercial, marketing and economics.
“Khalil has been instrumental in propelling the growth of PDB’s retail operations in the past three years. He led initiatives that reinvented and modernised our retail business, enabling PDB to better cater to the needs of our customers and provide sustainable value to our stakeholders. As COO, I am confident that Khalil will provide the leadership and impact to deliver on our promise of making our customers’ everyday lives simpler and better,” said PDB managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Azrul Osman Rani in a press statement today. — DayakDaily
