KUCHING, Aug 18: Brigadier General Khairuddin Zakaria has officially assumed command as the new Commander of the Malaysian Army’s 3rd Infantry Brigade (3 Briged), taking over from Brigadier General Mohd Sauffi Omar.
According to a media statement from the 3rd Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the Handover and Taking Over Parade ceremony was held with full military honours at the Parade Ground of the 11th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD), Kem Semenggo, here today, as reported by TVS.
Mohd Sauffi, the 40th Commander of the 3rd Brigade, will now serve as Commandant of the Army Academy, while Khairuddin, the 41st Commander effective July 15, previously served at the Army Senior Officers Institute.
The parade involved eight detachments comprising 27 officers and 436 other ranks, led by Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment (RRD), Lieutenant Colonel Mohamad Nasirudin Ismail, and accompanied by the Combined Band of the 3rd Brigade Support Units.
In his farewell speech, Mohd Sauffi expressed his appreciation to the entire 3rd Brigade for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure.
“I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to lead such a professional and dedicated formation,” he said.
The ceremony was witnessed by 1st Division Commander Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz, who officiated the signing of the Handover Notes. — DayakDaily
