KUCHING, July 20: Kampung Bintawa Hilir and Kampung Sungai Tapang here are among four locations which have been placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from tomorrow (July 21) until Aug 3.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today disclosed that a squatters’ area at Sungai Plan in Bintulu has also been placed under lockdown until Aug 1.
Apart from that, EMCO was also enforced on Rh Bat at Simpang Koko in Sarikei starting today until Aug 5.
Meanwhile, Minister for Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian had via a post on his Facebook page last night cautioned that there was an increase in Covid-19 infections at Kampung Bintawa Hilir over the past week.
The number of positive cases detected had jumped from six reported on July 14 to 26 cases as of yesterday (July 19).
SDMC also today declared the end of EMCO for five areas, namely Kampung Mambong in Kuching; Rh Anita at Balai Badak of Kampung Klampai and Rh Abing in Lubok Kerikap of Sebetan, both in Saratok; Rh Lau ak Janting at Batu 20 Jalan Bintulu-Miri in Bintulu; and Kejin Camp of Shin Yang at Long Lama Estate in Telang Usan. — DayakDaily
