SIBU, Sept 10: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) will close several roads in conjunction with the arrival of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah when they visit the town on Sept 11 and 12.
SMC deputy chairman Councilor Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Rosely said His Majesty and his entourage are expected to arrive at Yu Lung San Tian En Temple at 4pm on Sept 11.
“Immediately after that, they will proceed to RH Hotel from the temple at 5pm via Jalan Oya to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Deshon, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Bujang Suntong, and Jalan Sanyan.
“In the evening, His Majesty and his entourage will be attending a dinner with the Sibu community at Kampung Nyabor Malay Union Club Hall (MUC) at 8pm RH Hotel through Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and Jalan Bandong,” he said last night (Sept 9).
For the following day (Sept 12), Izkandar said that the King and his entourage will leave for breakfast at Central Market at 8am, going through Jalan Bujang Suntong to Jalan Pulau and Jalan Channel.
He added that after breakfast at 9.30am, they will proceed to Sri Aman via Jalan Mission, Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai, Jalan Deshon, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, and Jalan Sibu Durin.
Iskandar hoped that residents would celebrate the arrival and departure of the King and Queen.
“People can gather along the roadside at the time that has been announced to show their loyalty to the King and the country,” he said.
His Majesty’s visit is in conjunction with the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour to get to know Malaysians living in Sabah and Sarawak.
The tour started in Tawau, Sabah, on Sept 3 and will end in Telok Melano, Sarawak, on Sept 13, covering 2,154km via the Pan Borneo Highway. — DayakDaily
