KUCHING, July 13: Kelab Mirage Sarawak celebrated its 43rd anniversary by honouring its founder, Datin Amar Kathryn Wee, for her unwavering commitment to promoting health and wellness.
Organising chairperson Datin Dona Drury Wee highlighted the significance of this milestone, noting that 43 years of dedication to health and wellness is a remarkable achievement.
“This journey is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our founding chairperson, Datin Amar Kathryn Wee. She was advocating for health and wellness long before it became a cool thing to do,” she said during her address at the celebration held at Mandarin Restaurant tonight.
Kathryn Wee, a self-taught wellness advocate, learned from her instructors and read extensively, even inviting other masters to Kuching so that her students could benefit from their knowledge.
“Thirty years ago, she was already organising workshops and seminars on yoga, tai chi, and healthy living,” she shared.
Dona emphasised that tonight’s celebration is not just about the passage of time but about the positive impacts made on individuals and communities.
“It is a time to recognise the efforts of wellness coaches and educators who have tirelessly worked to improve the quality of life for others. Kelab Mirage is recognised as one of the pioneers in this,” she added.
Kelab Mirage hopes this milestone will inspire future generations to continue prioritising health and wellness through regular exercise, balanced nutrition, stress management, and routine check-ups.
Dona also expressed gratitude to the students and committee members for their enthusiasm in organising this momentous event.
Some 200 attendees, including visitors from Brunei, Sandakan, Tawau, and Kedah, joined the celebration.
The event also witnessed the presentation of donations to five organisations, including Hung Nam Siang Tng, Wishesland International, Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia Kuching, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society and Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. — DayakDaily
