MIRI, Dec 2: The Kayan youths have been reminded to excel in education because it opens possibilities in their future career.

In giving this reminder during the Pre-Christmas dinner organised by the Kayan Sarawak youth church service held at leading in the city last Sunday, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said, in today’s world, there are major challenges facing by the young people.

“….years to come be it finding jobs and in the business community it will be getting more and more competitive as more people will have better educated or become knowledgeable in business strategy,” he opined.

Thus, he urged the Kayan youths to always commit to improving themselves, especially in their education.

“There are available opportunities offered by local and foreign education institutions here in Miri and Sarawak, If you have a diploma today aimed for the degree through continuous learning,” he pointed out.

He observed, that people who were truly successful in their chosen profession discovered that the secret to their success was in their ability to discover their strengths and to organize their life so that those strengths could be applied.

He also advised them (the Kayan youths) to put their religious belief uppermost in their life and to be committed to their faith.

“Having strong religious belief will make you strong in facing life challenges and difficulties,” he explained.

Dennis expresses concerned knowing many Christian youths today, despite strong religious belief in their parents, seem to shy away from churches and church activities.

For that, he told them to reach out to these youth who might be facing a crisis in life.

“Only with strong religious footing will enable ones to resist worldly temptation, Dennis added,” he said.

He urged the Kayan youth to appreciate the peace and harmony the state and country offer and work together with the government to ensure this condition to prevail.

Dennis also told them to be wise when using social media and urged the youth not to easily influence by individuals or groups who pretend to champion their so-called rights because many of these are done with selfish political agendas or self-gains.

“The state of Sarawak is currently enjoying a feel-good feeling with a new wave of development happenings throughout the state since Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi ( Dr ) Abang Johari Tun Datuk Openg took over the state leadership in 2017,” he said.

At the event, Dennis presented the State government Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund of RM20,000.00 to help to fund the Kayan Youth Church activities.

Nearly 300 Christian youth attended the event.

Also present was Pastor Peter Ngau, Chairman of Pelayanan Gereja Belia Kayan Sarawak, Reverand Father Sylvester Ngau Jok, Temenggong Elizabeth Deng, Jeffery Ngau Uvang, PKS Miri Branch Chairman, Pastors and Church leaders of Churches of Miri. – DayakDaily
