KUCHING, Jan 28: The Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak (MYSS) is organising an MYSS EFootball Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2021 “Stay at Home” online competition in efforts to find new esports talent in the state.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the competition is part of the ministry’s efforts, in cooperation with Sarawak Esports Association (Sesa) to find a new professional esports player with the potential talent in the grass roots level.
“This championship is a platform to prepare the amateur players which have the potential to be presented in the national level, or even the international level. Besides that, the Pro Evolution Soccer 2021 is also one of the game’s titles in the esports category which will be held in the Malaysia Games 2022 in Johor,” he said.
Apart from that, he noted, the competition also aims to help the players to improve in managing their psychology while under pressure.
“Through this competition, it would also help to increase the player’s confidence, at the same time to show their potential, including their discipline when facing challenges during the competition,” he added.
The MYSS EFootball Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2021 “Stay at Home” online competition will be held from Jan 19 until Mac 7, 2021, and offers a total of RM10,000 worth of prizes.
The registration will begin on Feb 1 until Feb 13, 2021, and open to Sarawak youth below the age of 40-years old, regardless of where they are, and will be limited to only 328 participants.
The competition will have two categories namely the “1 vs 1” category which will start on Feb 19 until Feb 21 2021, and the “2 vs 2” category which will start on Feb 26 until Feb 28, 2021. The final games for the “1 vs 1” category will be held on March 6, 2021, followed by the “2 vs 2” category on March 7, 2021.
