Four individuals arrested for alleged involvement in drugs

KUCHING, Jan 28: A total of five individuals were arrested by the police in Bau for allegedly being involved in drug activities, yesterday.

According to Bau district police DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement today, the arrest was made during “Op Tapis” that was conducted on the roadside nearby Kampung Sebobok in Bau, by a team of police from Bau district police at 3.30 pm.

“After the arrest, all of the suspects were brought to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) office in Bau district police station (IPD Bau), and after a preliminary urine test was conducted, four of the suspect, aged between 18 to 30-years old, were found to be positive for Methamphetamine.


“One of the suspects was released for being negative, and the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

On the same note, Poge also assured that the police will continue its enforcement to curb the drug usage or activities in the communities and advised the public, especially the parents to always monitor their children’s activity.

He said apart from that, the local communities can also play their part to help curb the social problems involving drug activities.

“NCID IPD Bau will continue its enforcement efforts to stop the activities of the drug by arresting suspected individuals and conducting raids on any location that is believed to be used for drug activities,” he added. –DayakDaily.
