Upgrading Kapit water treatment plant from Oct 28, public advised to store water

The upgrading works of Kapit water treatment plant will take place between Oct 28 and Nov 10.

KUCHING, Oct 24: The State Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) has advised locals to anticipate water disruption following upgrading works to the Kapit water treatment plant from Oct 28 till Nov 10.

The department said a few water plants will be closed during the upgrading work.

Among the areas that will be affected included SMK Selirik, Sunny Height, Sg Anggau, Taman Bukitk Selirik, Taman Harmony, Taman Gelong, Perumahan Polis Selirik, Tatai Teresang and Pelajau area.


“The upgrading work is to ensure that folks in Kapit will be enjoying a clean, safe and a more quality water supply,” JBALB said in a statement.

The upgrading works of Kapit water treatment plant will take place between Oct 28 and Nov 10.

The department added that it has come out with three contingency plans to minimise the disruption of water supply, which is to control the usage capacity of the consumers, regular water supply to the effected area (priority will be given to hospitals, polyclinics and schools), and controlled water ration starting from 10pm until 6am, during the upgrading works.

“Consumers in the affected area are advised to conserve their water usage, and at the same time save some water supply for their daily use during the disruption period,” it continued. — DayakDaily
