KUCHING, Oct 17: Two Kampung Angkat MADANI projects in Kapit are taking shape, bringing hope for better infrastructure and improved quality of life for local communities.
In a Facebook post, Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the project at Rumah Kiong in Kapit involves electrical cabling, ceiling works, and other components, which are now nearly 50 per cent complete.
Meanwhile, the second project at Nanga Engkuah in Kapit involves the construction of an iron bridge and a covered walkway, which are now nearly 80 per cent complete.
Nanta, who is also the Works Minister, expressed relief and appreciation to the ministry’s Deputy Principal Assistant Secretary of the Corporate Planning Division, Uma Maniam, and her delegation for visiting and monitoring the progress of the Kampung Angkat MADANI projects in his constituency.
He also added that the delegation was joined by two officers from his ministry, including representatives from the Public Works Department (JKR), as well as several other related government agencies and departments.
“I hope that all projects under these two Kampung Angkat MADANI areas can be completed as planned for the benefit of the local communities,” he said in his post.
Kampung Angkat MADANI is a government initiative aimed at bridging the development gap between urban and rural areas through the provision and improvement of basic infrastructure in rural communities.
The programme was introduced under Budget 2024 and further expanded through Budget 2025, with each selected village receiving an allocation of RM1 million.
Currently, 43 Kampung Angkat MADANI projects have been implemented nationwide, with a total allocation of RM107 million.
Under Budget 2026, the government plans to increase the number of Kampung Angkat MADANI to 500 villages. — DayakDaily
