KAPIT, March 14: Katibas Democratic Action Party (DAP) coordinator Paren Nyawi is urging Kapit folk to support the “Sayangi Sawitku” campaign mounted by the federal government.

This is in line with the government’s effort to increase domestic consumption of palm oil-based products by 10 per cent.

Currently, he said, domestic consumption of palm oil-based products was at 20 per cent. The remainder is for export.

In a statement, Paren explained that the campaign should be supported not just by consumers but also manufacturers of palm oil-based products by affixing the ‘Sayangi Sawitku’ stickers onto all of such products.

This would also promote awareness among consumers of the importance of palm oil in their lives.

Paren said palm oil was used in our everyday products such as food, animal care and pet food, toiletries and personal care, multipurpose cleaners, detergents and biodiesel.

The purpose of this campaign is to inculcate the pride and love for Malaysian-produced palm oil-based products and appreciating it as the main commodity that contributed to the economy. — DayakDaily
