KANTIN earns dual nominations at World Culinary Awards 2025, hailed as pride of Sarawak

KUCHING, Aug 18: KANTIN has put Sarawak on the world culinary map after securing two prestigious nominations at the World Culinary Awards 2025, a feat hailed as a proud moment for all Sarawakians by Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development I (Youth and Sports Development) Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu.

According to a press release, KANTIN at JEWEL Changi in Singapore is in the running for ‘Asia’s Best New Restaurant’, while KANTIN at The Granary in Kuching has been shortlisted for ‘Malaysia’s Best Restaurant’.

“KANTIN’s achievements are not just a win for the restaurant, but a proud moment for all Sarawakians.

“It reflects the world-class talent and entrepreneurial spirit emerging from our state,” said Gerald Rentap.

“We are incredibly proud to see Sarawak’s unique flavours and stories represented on such a prestigious international platform.”

The press release further stated that the Deputy Minister’s office has long championed local entrepreneurs and innovators.

The success of KANTIN, which began in Kuching with the vision of reintroducing Sarawakian cuisine to a new generation, stands as a powerful example of the potential within Sarawak’s creative and culinary scene.
