Kanowit town partially inaccessible due to rising flood waters

KUCHING, Sept 7: Various areas in Kanowit town have been inaccessible due to rising flood waters since yesterday.

According to a statement from Fire And Rescue Department (Bomba) Kanowit, the water level at Jalan Lukut Penyulau has risen to three feet and is inaccessible by vehicles.

At Kanowit town, Tua Pek Kong and Masjid area, the water levels have risen by one foot while at Rumah Bajut Ak Jangok Sg Mapal and Rumah Salleh Nanga Kaba water levels have increased to almost two feet.

The water levels at Rumah Bajut Sg Mapal and riverbanks of Sg Kanowit have also risen by one foot.

Bomba said the residents in these affected areas have not evacuate to higher grounds at present.

At Rantau Kemiding, the water level has risen by half foot and is still accessible by vehicles. -DayakDaily
