Kanowit, Selangau to be developed under Rascom Devt Agenda

KANOWIT, Nov 18: The Rajang Area Security Command (Rascom) will enjoy various forms of development with the establishment of the Rascom Development Agency (Rasda) which will be allocated funds of RM1.5 billion.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Rasda will be responsible for development of Kanowit to Selangau area.

“We want our own agency to draft the development plan because we want the planning to be done in the best possible way.

“In the past, development planning was done through the secretariat but now the agency itself is responsible,” he said during a meet-the-people session at Rumah Andrew Karani, Nanga Ngungun, here earlier today.

At the event, Abang Johari presented cheque worth RM70,000 from Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to Methodist Church of the Ibans in Kanowit Town and Methodist Church of Rantau Dilang (RM30,000).

Also present were Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Kanowit incumbent Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang; Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana; Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong; Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang and Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh. — DayakDaily
