Kampung Stas man, 23, arrested for selling illegal lottery tickets

The suspect was found selling illegal lottery tickets at an eatery outlet in Tondong.

BAU, June 18: A 23-year-old man suspected of selling illegal lottery tickets was arrested during an anti-gambling operation in Tondong yesterday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the operation called ‘Ops Dadu’ was carried out at an eatery outlet around 5.30pm.

The suspect, a local from Kampung Stas, was detained after he was found openly selling illegal lottery tickets at the premise.


Police also seized a mobile phone and cash amounting to RM180 believed to be used in the sales transaction during the raid.

The case is being investigated under Section 4A (a) of Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which carries a maximum punishment of RM200,000 fine or five years of imprisonment if found guilty. —DayakDaily
