KUCHING, Sept 17: A new 400-gallons water storage tank brought smiles to 10 families at Kampung Sinar Baru, Jalan Puncak Borneo here.

They were the first batch of families at the village who each receive the water tank from Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang today.

The Heritage Society of Rajah Charles Brooke Hospital (HSoRCBMH), in which Lo is the patron, has reached out with the assistance as in the past two years, the village folks have been facing water shortages, especially during the dry seasons, while clean water supply was scarce.

HSoRCBMH, in a media release, highlighted that the naturally-hilly geographical condition of the village was one of the factors that hindered the consistent and smooth piped water supply.

The situation worsened since July 2019 where piped water will only be available for about two hours during the day and five hours in the wee hours of the morning.

Expressing his concern with regards to this dire issue within his constituency, Lo has vowed to look into how to resolve the water supply problem with the relevant agencies swiftly.

“In the meantime, the HSoRCBMH will continue to identify those with such challenges and we will work together in developing and upgrading the livelihood of the village folks,” he said.

HSoRCBMH president Angelina Jong was also present at the event.— DayakDaily
