MIRI, March 17: The construction of a 3.2km walkway worth RM3 million under Projek Rakyat along the beach in front of Kampung Pulau Melayu is scheduled for completion in June this year.
Fully funded by the Sarawak government, the construction of the walkway commenced on December last year (2021).
“The construction consists of two lanes measuring 2 meters wide each ,” said Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Cukture Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
He was met during a site visit in Jalan Pantai here on Thursday.
He added that despite facing some delays, the project is expected to be completed in June.
“Once completed, people from the surrounding areas can come here to do fitness activities with their families, and it is a very strategic location for recreational activities,” he said. — DayakDaily
