KUCHING, July 12: Kampung Haji Baki Hawker Centre, along Jalan Batu Kitang here will be improved with an allocation of RM212,000.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, said the upgrades will take into account the safety aspects of the centre and the comfort of customers patronising the premises.
“For the centre, which is built at a cost of RM400,000, it will be further improved to provide convenience both to the operators and customers.
“This is among the steps taken by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to help the people,” Lo said when witnessing the handing over of project works to the contractor at the centre today.
According to Lo, the upgrades will include increasing the number of parking lots, fencing for the centre and building a prayer room.
Also included in the project is an air-conditioned barber shop that will benefit villagers interested in venturing into business.
“For the improvement project, it will take about five months to complete, with the scheduled completion slated for Dec 10.
“For the villagers of Kampung Haji Baki with about 3,000 residents, you need to work together to keep the centre clean and avoid vandalism,” he added.
