KUCHING, July 1: The long-held dream of Kabong residents to have access to modern and comfortable sports facilities is set to become a reality, with the construction of a RM30 million sports complex scheduled to begin soon.

In a TVS news report, Kabong assemblyman Dato Mohd Chee Kadir said the major project, fully funded by the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), is now in its final stage of site selection.

“The complex will feature a 300-seat grandstand, a football field with an underground drainage system, an administrative block, a multipurpose indoor hall, a synthetic running track, and a futsal court,” he said after chairing the Kabong Sports Complex Project meeting at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya today.

He stressed that the development is not merely about building infrastructure but represents the Sarawak government’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and empowering youth in rural areas.

“As the elected representative, I hope the project progresses smoothly so that the benefits can be fully enjoyed—not just by the youth, but by the entire Kabong community,” he added.

Also present at the meeting were the head of Facilities Development and Maintenance Division of the Sarawak Sports Corporation, Syamsudin Mohamad Ali, as well as representatives from BDDA, the Land and Survey Department, and other relevant technical agencies. — DayakDaily
