KUCHING, Sept 22: Kabong assemblyman Dato Mohd Chee Kadir has urged for swift action to clear site issues holding up 19 development projects worth RM49 million in the constituency.
He said closer coordination among the relevant parties was needed to address the site issues and keep the projects on track.
“Site-related issues raised by the implementing agencies need to be expedited and coordinated with the relevant parties so that the subsequent processes for development projects in the Kabong constituency can proceed smoothly,” he said in a statement shared on his social media today.
Mohd Chee said the matter was discussed during a Project Site Coordination Meeting chaired by the Sarawak Implementation Monitoring Unit (SIMU) at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUNS) yesterday (Sept 21).
The meeting focused on the site status and implementation of development projects in the Kabong constituency.
According to the presentation, Kabong has 19 projects, comprising 16 under the Public Works Department (JKR) and three under the Saratok District Council (MDS), out of 49 projects involving eight State constituencies.
The RM49 million development expenditure covers various projects aimed at improving facilities and infrastructure in the constituency.
Among the projects are the construction and upgrading of facilities at Tanjung Kembang Beach, a new hawker centre at Gerigat Beach, and a new food court and homestay for the Kabong Area Fishermen’s Association.
Also included are new boat terminals at Sungai Endot and Kampung Emplam, a new fishermen’s jetty at Kampung Gerigat, a new community hall at Kampung Nyabor and an RC ramp at Kampung Hilir Laut.
Several community halls in villages and longhouses are also listed, covering locations including Kampung Alit, Kampung Gerigat, Kampung Emplam, Kampung Sessage and several longhouses in Kabong and Ulu Roban.
The presentation showed that some projects have yet to be applied for, while projects at Tanjung Kembang Beach, Kampung Gerigat Fishermen’s Jetty and Kampung Hilir Laut RC Ramp are awaiting approval.
Mohd Chee said he would continue to monitor each project’s progress to ensure implementation followed the established processes and requirements. — DayakDaily
