KUCHING, March 25: Two vehicles were completely destroyed in a garage fire at Lot 619, Jalan Badron 1, Pantai Tanjung Kembang in Kabong early this morning, but no casualties were reported.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the incident was reported at 12.44am and involved a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Wira Aeroback parked in the garage of an unoccupied house.
Initial firefighting efforts were carried out by 10 members of the Kabong Community Firefighting Squad (PBS), who used two fire extinguishers to contain the spread.
They later deployed one hose line, a nozzle, and used water from a nearby drain as a source for further suppression.
Upon arrival, firefighters from the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station took over the operation, setting up a secondary water line from their fire engine and successfully extinguishing the blaze.
The fire also caused minor damage to the front door of the house. The exact cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
Police personnel were also present at the scene to assist. — DayakDaily
