KUCHING, Nov 16: Junaidi Abdul Rahman, the culinary maestro behind Junaidi’s Mee Jawa, has earned a distinguished reputation as the purveyor of the best Mee Jawa in town.

However, for Junaidi, the real concern lies not in the accolades but in ensuring that he meets the ever-growing demand for his renowned dishes.

With over 30 years of experience serving Mee Jawa, Junaidi remains humble about the recognition he has received, attributing much of the culinary credit to his wife, Annikee Bujang, who masterfully oversees the preparation and presentation of their dishes.

Hailing from Kampung Gita, Petra Jaya, the 60-year-old Junaidi embarked on his culinary journey in various locations in Kuching before establishing his present cafe.

In an interview with DayakDaily, Junaidi expressed gratitude for the continued support of his loyal customers who have followed him through different locations.

“The culinary credit should go to my wife, Annikee Bujang, who is behind on how the dishes are prepared and served over the years,” Junaidi shared.

The Mee Jawa Special, featuring chicken or beef satay, is a crowd favorite, priced at RM12 per plate. Junaidi’s cafe also offers Mee Jawa Biasa (RM6), satay (RM1.50 per stick), ketupat (RM1), and lemang (RM2).

“People can still come for just Mee Jawa Biasa (RM6), the satay (RM1.50 per stick), ketupat (RM1) or lemang (RM2) as we also serve this,” he added.

“We used up to 600 sticks of chicken satay, 40 sticks of beef satay, and 30 bags of yellow noodles daily. All this preparation is done after we closed our stall daily. It is hard work and long hours,” he shared.

The secret to Junaidi’s delectable Mee Jawa and satay lies in consistent ingredients, prepared with love and dedication.

Junaidi’s stall is located at Rajah Cafe, Jalan Pending.

Customers often appreciate the savory blend of Mee Jawa sauces and satay sauce, elevating the flavors to suit their palates.

“Maybe that gives the dishes more savory to the customers’ palates,” Junaidi remarked.

Notable personalities, including Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, are among the frequent patrons of Junaidi’s Mee Jawa.

For those unable to visit the cafe, delivery services are available, and the establishment also offers catering services for events.

“If you don’t come to the cafe to have our Mee Jawa, you can also place an order through food delivery services.

“We also offer catering services for functions,” he said.

Inquiries and orders can be made by calling 016-8595051.
