Julau police’s Head of Traffic Investigation dies due to road accident related injuries

JULAU, Feb 3: Julau District Police mourned the loss of a senior officer, ASP Colony Kiai who passed away on Tuesday night at Sarawak General Hospital, two months after he was involved in a road accident.

Julau District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent, Andam Sulin said Colony was his Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.

He said the Julau IPD staff had received the sad news of the death of the 47-year-old at 10.30pm on Tuesday night.

“On this occasion, I on behalf of all Julau IPD staff would like to extend our condolences, especially to his wife, Judy Karin and his family members,” he said.

He said the deceased was receiving treatment at Sarikei Hospital before being transferred to Sarawak General Hospital via helicopter on Dec 13 last year.

He added that the late Colony was involved in a road accident while on his way back from monitoring the election campaign on Dec 7.

He suffered serious injuries after the vehicle he was driving skidded in the Kusing area, Jalan Pakan at around 9.15pm that night.

According to Andam, the late ASP Colony was a very dedicated and disciplined officer.

“The deceased leaves behind four children aged 13 to 21,” he added.

He said the deceased had served in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for 25 years and served for about five years at the Julau IPD.

“He is expected to be buried at St Lawrence Christian Cemetery, Jalan Sabu, Sri Aman soon,” he said. — DayakDaily
