KUCHING, Jan 8: Julau MP Larry Sng has been made president of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), formerly known as Sarawak Worker’s Party (SWP).
His presidency, along with the new 2022-2025 lineup, was announced in a press conference following PBM’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) held in a hotel in Sibu today.
Sng said PBM is not a new party but a continuation from an existing Sarawak-based party into a national and multiracial party.
“This party is a multiracial party for all Malaysians. As you can see from the composition of our lineup, we have people from different States,” he said.
Touching on the party’s direction, Sng said PBM is in support of Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the government of the Malaysian Family (‘Keluarga Malaysia’).
PBM’s focus will be on issues pertaining to women, youth, economy, science, technology, education, and harmony.
“These are the core pillars of the party, and our direction in terms of thinking is gearing towards centre-left policies,” he added.
PBM was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Oct 27, 2021.
