According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Miri Division JPN assistant registration officer Dominic Upai Lagan said the Mekar unit will be deploy on the ground, especially in rural areas to help in the process of registration for eligible individuals in the state.
“This is a very helpful service for those in rural areas who are without any transportation, and as part of the effort taken by JPN Sarawak to provide borderless services, the Mekar Unit will remain relevant despite facing various challenges,” he said during a press conference held at the Baitulmal Sarawak Building in Miri on Tuesday (Oct 26).
Dominic revealed the JPNS Mekar Unit currently has two buses, where one of the buses is equipped with advanced technology such as I-JPN system, as well as a MyKad printing machine.
Apart from that, he said, the bus is also equipped with its own server control room, service counters, complete with office equipment.
“Through this unit, documentation such as MyKad (MyKad for 12-year-olds, MyKad replacement), MyKad chip information, together with birth and death certificates, can be issue in less than 30 minutes on the ground on the same day,” he added. — DayakDaily
