KUCHING, July 9: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has taken stern action against errant motorists by issuing 57 notices for traffic offences during a focused enforcement operation at Kuching International Airport (KIA) and Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The operation, conducted by the Motorcycle Enforcement Unit (UPB) of JPJ Kuching under ‘Team Falcon’, was carried out following public complaints about congestion and frequent violations of traffic regulations in these critical areas.

In a statement today, JPJ Sarawak said the operation aimed to curb irresponsible behaviour, particularly illegal parking on yellow lines and restricted zones, which has been causing traffic disruption and inconvenience to other road users.

“The issuance of 57 non-compliance notices reflects a worrying level of disregard for traffic laws among some drivers,” the statement read, as reported by TVS.

JPJ stressed that there will be no compromise for traffic offenders, especially in high-traffic, sensitive areas like hospitals and airport terminals.

Members of the public are reminded to abide by traffic rules and park only in designated areas to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow. — DayakDaily
