KUCHING, Sept 24: Two luxury vehicles were seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak during an enforcement operation in Kuching after they were found to have expired motor vehicle licences (LKM) and insurance coverage.
The vehicles were seized during Ops Luxury, conducted by the JPJ Kuching Operations Unit through patrols and monitoring activities around the city.
JPJ Sarawak said the enforcement action was taken after officers detected offences involving expired LKM and vehicle insurance coverage.
“All offences detected and the vehicle seizures were carried out in accordance with the provisions of the law currently in force,” it said in a statement posted on its social media yesterday (Sept 23).
The department advised vehicle owners and users to ensure that their LKM and insurance coverage remain valid before using their vehicles on public roads.
It said compliance with road regulations was not only the responsibility of vehicle owners but was also essential to safeguard the protection and safety of all road users.
JPJ Sarawak added that it would continue conducting patrols, monitoring and enforcement activities to improve compliance with road laws.
The department also urged motorists to ensure their vehicles had valid documentation before taking to the road. — DayakDaily
