KUCHING, Dec 19: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has rolled out four main payment channels for the public to settle outstanding summonses ahead of the full enforcement of harmonised fines rates by JPJ and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which will take effect on January 1, 2026.
JPJ Sarawak director Norizan Jili said payments can be made at JPJ counters, kiosks, mobile counters or via the myJPJ application.
“The public can still enjoy a 50 per cent reduction on existing summonses from Nov 1 to Dec 30 as a transitional measure before the new rates are fully enforced,” she said in a statement yesterday (Dec 18).
As reported by TVS News, she added that the reduction does not apply to offences that cannot be compounded or to serious road safety violations.
“Among the offences involved are vehicles without insurance coverage, no Motor Vehicle License (LKM), and the use of fake LKM,” she said.
JPJ Sarawak reminded the public that full enforcement of the harmonised fines rates and enforcement methods is only 13 days away.
No reduction will be granted for summonses that remain unpaid within 60 days after the discount period ends.
JPJ also encouraged the public to settle outstanding summonses promptly and play their part in promoting safer driving practices. — DayakDaily
